Shalom (Peace always!),
Israel is the home to Krav Maga, in hebrew it stands for Contact Combat. This unique and effective fighting system's origin dates back to the 1940's when the holy land was fighting against its oppressors -Kapap, Haganah etc. The Israeli military developed this unique fighting form picking the best of the techniques from boxing, jui justsu, muay thai etc.
My trip happened as part of the IKMF (International Krav Maga Federation-Imi), which organised a Tour & Train session from 14th to 22nd May 09. The entire land smells of high voltage 'security' with gun totting soldiers (both men & women) with stylishly fitted uniforms & hair do's but thorough professionals to the core. The feel of the strict security systems can be sniffed right at the Tel Aviv Airport where waves of security personnel scan your entry into the Holy Land & ensure no mishap.
We had proffessionals from the US, UK, Spain, Portugal, Germany, France & India numbering almost 40 for this amazing mecca. The presence of all 4 directors of Krav Maga - Iyal Yanilov, Gabhi Noch, Avi Moyal & Eli Ben Ami on one platform was the highest point of this tour. The curriculam comprised of advanced attack & defence techniques, krav maga in car, defensive & evasive driving, use of fire arms, vip protection trechniques, beach training etc. etc. It was coupled with visits to Massada, Jersusalem, Dead Sea, Sea of Galili, Tel Aviv etc.
A firing session under the expert guidance of Adam at the International Security Academy, where I could fire a Desert Eagle (magnum), Uzi & Magal was a real thriller. The digs at Shawerma, Felaful, Pita , Humus , Olivers, Macabi make me nostalgic to this day.
Well to understand the concept of security & its best / effective implementation & witness thorough professionals, one needs to visit thr holy land once......which I DID!
Amen

Yes that's a wonderful profile.I wish our forces too could be trained this way.The Israelis have always been known for their fitness and preparedness. They have been known to train flight marshals in various airlines. The most important part of such training is the ability to fight without weapons.Today, silent warfare is very important.I have great respect for the Israelis, who have really done vey well in the training of their commandos.I remember how they rescued their people in Entebbe.Remember how they rescued their people from the clutches of Id Amin! Well keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThanks a load Rod! Well your knowledge about the Yehudis seem to be nice n updated. Well, what I propagate is not just Krav Maga but the best of combat systems an amalgation of various combat systems which I've researched & developed over years!
ReplyDeleteWell today, Corporate Security solutions are the in things! Yes, since I was in Ethiopia, I was very much aware about the Yehudis! The Ethiopian Airlines Sky Marshals were said to have been trained by the Israelis at one time!
