Introduction
Right at the outset let me extend my best wishes to you & your near /dear ones for a fantabulous 2017. Hope this year sees you shun your inhibitions & fear from uncertainties standing tall against all adverse situations! I convey equal gratitude to the year gone by without which I wouldn't be stepping onto this new year. Is it all a number, fate or sheer luck which made me walk into 2017 with my held high or is there something else without which it may not have been possible ? The answer without an iota of doubt is 'YES', our preparations & adaptability made us to this day without which we would probably have seized or succumbed.
Hoping versus Acting
If you cast your eyes on the National Crime Record Bureau , you will be surprised to see that inspite of all tall claims the crime whether it be attempt to murder, murder, rape etc. have shown an upward trend. We may hope & pray for a world where there is peace, tranquillity & love which is very logical but it is not mere aspirations which will help us inch towards a 'dream society' but our efforts to prepare & eradicate the irritants.
Lack of preparation can definitely make our lives difficult whether it be our daily chores or an adverse situation like a kidnap attempt or a hostage situation which could happen if at all once in life time but would surely not give us another chance to respond with perfection. Putting up your guard or preparing after you near miss or get into a mishap may not be the wisest thing to do. But what will surely help you emerge safe, secure & unscathed are efforts as part of pro-action towards preparation.
What to do?
Firstly internalise the need of knowing how to stay safe & secure. Do not confuse it with strenuous workouts in gym but basic 'survival skills' which you should know & practice regularly. If you practice sports martial arts like karate, boxing, kick boxing, taekwondo continue to do that as it will definitely develop you physical & mentally but at the same time it may not be all , since it doesn't prepare you for real & savage attacks we abhor to read & numerous actually faced in the year gone by - Burari Stabbing, Stabbing at MG Road Metro Station, Terror strikes in Berlin & more.
What you need to know is how to stay proactively prepared & also how to be able to react in case a nuisance is forced or pushed onto you despite all your efforts. Pick up a Reality Based Combat or Self Defence System , a system which is used by the military & uniformed sector & is established or has a proven track record.
Learn to use a weapon which may save your life or help you save someone else's life. This weapon could be a stick or baton, knife or even your licensed firearm.
When to start?
Now ! Because its Now or Never .
